Beginnings..

I have just become a humanist celebrant, approved by the American Humanist Society. My goal is to provide unique, customized services to people interested in secular, non-religious or inter-religious ceremonies for the important moments of their lives. I will be offering a full range of services, from simply officiating ceremonies, to helping people plan their ceremonies, write their vows, and navigate the complexities that sometimes surround gatherings of families and friends. Humanist celebrants are categorized as clergy, with the same rights and responsibilities as ordained religious clergy, and are considered legal officiants.

I am a clinical psychologist, professor, public speaker and writer, with well-honed organizational skills and attention to detail. My hobbies are dancing, running, cycling, kayaking, hiking, horse-back riding, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends. I am a life-long humanist and firmly believe that beautiful, meaningful and special ceremonies should be available to everyone, not just those with religious affiliations. I practice what I preach in terms of diversity, and have a life full of friends and family members of different races, religions, ethnicities, sexual preferences, gender identities, income and education levels. I am accepting and nonjudgemental and really do believe that laughter IS the best medicine.

I live in the Triangle area of North Carolina (Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill) but I am willing to travel throughout the state and even nationally or internationally as needed.

I am currently preparing my business to start up around March 1. If you have a ceremony you would like to plan for after March 1, feel free to contact me via the button on this page.
